That doesn't even count the fish and other sea animals, which of course are included in the demand for the abolition of animal meat for food. Meat consumption causes more suffering and death than any other human activity... and is completely unnecessary. Many groups are mobilizing to promote the abolition of meat (and other animal products).
They will not only advocate vegetarianism and veganism to individuals, but will call for society to abandon the practice of killing animals for food. It is important to address people not only as consumers, but also as citizens like the anti-slavery activists who, although only a small minority, not only sought a boycott of sugar produced by slaves but also clearly expressed the idea that slavery should be banned. It is important today to question society as a whole about the murder of animals for food so that it can no longer avoid a public debate on the legitimacy of this practice. Virato's guest, Stephan Martin, is an astronomer, educator, and writer who has taught astronomy and physics for over twenty years. Currently Assistant Professor of Astronomy at Bristol Community College in southeastern Massachusetts, he graduated with honors from
Colgate
University and earned his MS in physics and astronomy from the University of Wyoming. His graduate and subsequent astronomical research has focused on dark matter, infrared studies of spiral galaxies, and observations of the solar corona.
With a background in science and the humanities, he has been active in exploring and promoting interdisciplinary approaches to understanding the universe. Martin attended the graduate program in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness studies at the California Institute of Integral Studiesin San Francisco, and is on the core faculty in the graduate-level Consciousness, Healing, and Ecology program at New College of California, where he helped design an innovative curriculum that integrates rigorous academic work with personal and cultural transformation.
His current research and writing focuses on the transformative potential of the insights of modern science and their integration into personal experience and everyday life. He continues to lead programs in educational, holistic, and the nontraditional that explore the innovative results of modern cosmology with the insights and practices of the world’s spiritual and indigenous traditions.
A well-respected and popular teacher, Stephen Martin is noted for his ability to render complex scientific ideas accessible to a broad audience and present them in innovative and personally relevant ways. He frequently lectures and gives presentations on astronomy and the wonders of the night sky at observatories, planetariums, and other popular venues, and has published a wide variety of articles on a multitude of topics that range from technical scientific research to academic papers in philosophy and humanities to popular-level articles on science education and everyday spirituality.

Her new book, The Leap, began developing as a young teacher of disadvantaged high school students and continued through bringing people together in the business world to accomplish breakthroughs in behavior and novel solutions.

Rob Paul McRae is a spiritual counselor and author from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada who writes under the name of P. Raymond Stewart. His internationally published and multiple trans-lated book Living As God established him as a respected voice in contemporary non-denominational spirituality.
Living as God invites you to make nothing short of an evolutionary leap in consciousness: from seeing God as "out there" and separate from you to seeing God as right here, right now – as your self. It is God who is looking out of your eyes, working with your hands, speaking from your mouth, because you and God are One. It reminds us, as God reminds us, that as God we are creators and can choose what we want to create. If we have chosen to see ourselves as separate little people struggling in a hostile world to survive against "others", we can simply choose again now to see differently.
P. Raymond Stewart has been sharing his own blend of Eastern and Western mysticism to the world for over ten years, having the opportunity to give talks in such places as the Omega Institute, and as far as Holland, where his first book has been translated into Dutch.
This work has all sprung out of his own personal experience of spiritual enfoldment that changed his life at the age of 18 as he experienced the unity of life in a complete and absolute depth which, he says, he is still trying to integrate.
Currently working on his second book, “God’s Dream”, he is also studying through the University of Waterloo in order to gain professionally recognized accreditation that will allow him to share his energy with more and more varied groups of people.
One example of this is his work at the Grand River Hospital’s Withdrawal Management Centre, where he teaches meditation techniques to patients going through the difficult transition out of substance abuse.
Using the pseudonym P. Raymond Stewart he has been quietly bringing light to this world in his own way for many years. Always intrigued by the mysteries of life, he experienced a profound awakening and transform-ation while traveling alone through the US when he was 18 years old. Realizing the essential oneness of all life, he returned home, gave away all that he owned and lived contentedly as a hermit for some years as he integrated this new sense of Self and reality.
